Overview: Solomon, son of David, reigned in Jerusalem around 950 BC. After completing the temple and leading Israel during a time of peace, he became known for his God-given wisdom (1 Kings 3:5–14). Many came to hear him speak, including rulers from distant lands. Solomon spoke thousands of proverbs (1 Kings 4:32), some of which were later recorded in Scripture.
